High School Powerlifting

S & S High School offers boys and girls the opportunity to compete in the sport of power-lifting. Boys belong to the Texas High School Powelifting Association and the girls belong to the Texas High School Women's Powerlifting Association. The sport of powerlifting is not a UIL event but adheres to all rules set forth by the UIL as in other athletic competition.

Teams compete in open invitational meets to post totals of weight lifted. These totals, if high enough, earn the athlete a place in the regional meet. At the regional meet they must again, rank high enough to participate in the state competition.

Competition in powerlifting is in three attempts in three different types of lifts. The lifts are squat, bench press, and dead lift. The best lift from each is totaled to earn a final score for the meet.
